The ability to craft great articles can serve any internet marketer very well, so it's something that should be learned. The ability to write a fundamentally content-rich article will go a long way to achieving online success. Be darn sure you perform your research before anything else happens. In-depth research performed before writing anything, not just articles, will always be apparent when the article is finished. After this is done, you can use your notes to create an outline, and then you begin the actual first draft.
There's an abundance of readily available information online, so research should really never be a problem. Obviously you can start with search engines, and then there are online libraries, so it would be a rare situation to not be able to find the information you need.
If anything, there's so much you'll have to decide what "not" to use. You'll feel a lot better about what you'll be writing after you have all the required informaton. It's much more difficult to write while you're researching than it is after you've done the research and know something about it.
Try to write in a style that's simple. Articles are more formal than blog posts, but they should not be highly formal writing because you'll alienate too many readers. Use simple sentences and easy to understand language. This does not mean that you should "dumb it down."
Use the language and jargon your niche audience will naturally be expecting and will understand. You can still do that without too much formality. If not, you risk losing your audience before they have a chance to discover you.
A good rule of thumb is to use shorter paragraphs than you're use to writing in school. There's a good chance you're thinking each idea needs its own paragraph. This is a rule that you need to learn to break. You probably know, because you're like this, that people on the net are overloaded with information, so they want it fast, furious, and right now. So if you write in shorter paragraphs your readers will appreciate it and read your article.
Always use line breaks between your short paragraphs - no brainer. Indentation is harder on the eyes. Shorter paragraphs are easier to look at and, believe it or not, easier for an internet audience to read and digest. So, developing good article writing skills is very helpful to your overall article marketing business. It is even important if you don't want to make money online. This skill will spill-over into all your other written communications.
Of course, this won't happen overnight, but you'll find it's worth it to do it. It's not rocket science, but you'll need to be patient and dedicate yourself.
